If you don’t know the face in the photo below, you probably haven’t been around the club for more than a few weeks. Her name is Nicki Pitcher, and she is playing her 300th match for TEM this weekend.

The one and only Nicki Pitcher

Nicki is a life member of the club and spends most of her spare time on all things hockey for the benefit of our club. An inside source informs us that every 2nd call at her workplace seems to be about bloody hockey! She has played for the Women’s State League team back in her prime, and has three kids and a husband that bleed red, light blue and navy blue like herself. It’s safe to say the club would not be the same place without her, so get down to Brunswick at 12:30pm on Sunday to cheer her and the Women’s Metro team on!

Elsewhere, there is another huge home day on Saturday with 6 of our senior teams playing at home over the course of the day. The MVL1 boys play look to continue their recent good form vs Brunswick at 2pm, whilst our WPL face a stern challenge in Essendon Ladies at 3:30pm. This will all be followed by pizza and drinks at the clubrooms on Saturday night – some are even calling it “Party Shirt 2.0!”

See you out and about this weekend, let us know how you go! #gotem

Milestones: Nicki Pitcher (WMA) – 300 games.

Performance of the week: WPLR. Their good form over the past few weeks was validated with a tough 2-1 win over top-4 team Camberwell last Saturday. Well done girls!

Round 11 Senior Fixtures:

MVL1 (2nd) vs Brunswick (10th) | Sat 4th July | 2:00pm @ H1

The MVL1 boys put together more of a polished performance against Mornington last Saturday, with flashes of their best helping to secure a comfortable 5-1 victory. With the win, the boys were able to climb up the ladder to their highest position of the season – 2nd place. There’s no time to take their foot of the pedal though, as this week they take on a resurgent Brunswick team. After a tough start to the year, Brunswick drew with the fancied Yarra last week and will be looking to push TEM all the way on Saturday.

MVL1R (2nd) vs Brunswick (10th) | Sat 4th July | 12:30pm @ H1

MPA (10th) vs MCC (5th) | Sat 4th July | 3:30pm @ H2

MPC (9th) vs Hawthorn (5th) | Sun 5th July | 11:00am @ S1

WPL (9th) vs Essendon Ladies (3rd) | Sat 4th July | 3:30pm @ H1

The WPL girls suffered from a bit of a hangover from their stirring victory against Kew, going down thoroughly 0-4 to Camberwell last weekend. It doesn’t get much easier for the ladies this Saturday, as they take on an Essendon Ladies side looking to cement their top-4 position. Essendon Ladies obliterated Kew 9-1 over the weekend, so the TEM defence will have to be on guard for a dynamic opposition forward line.

WPLR (10th) vs Essendon Ladies (2nd) | Sat 4th July | 5:00pm @ H1

WPB (4th) vs Essendon Ladies (2nd) | Sat 4th July | 12:30pm @ H2
