WEEKLY PREVIEW #18

LAST ROUND OF THE YEAR!!!

And it is going to be absolutely HUGE! We’ve saved the best until last, and we can’t wait for tomorrow as it signifies our biggest home day of the year to date! We have an astonishing 11 junior/senior teams playing at home on Saturday, so if there was a round not to miss out on, this would be it.

It’s all to play for in the last rounds as well, with 6 of our teams having a mathematical chance of qualifying for finals! The best chance we have is with our Under 12 Pumas/Leopards, and they play after each other from 8:15am tomorrow morning as they both try to sneak into the 4th spot on the table. The seniors action will start from 12:30pm, with BBQs and music galore. Then, stick around for the massive Round 18 party for everyone from all grades, celebrating the finish of the season in style!

The top teams will play after each other on H1 (finally), with MVL1 taking on Mornington Peninsula at 2pm, followed by WPL’s last match of the year against Mentone at 3:30pm. Get around it!

Also, there was a sneaky milestone man that flew under our radar last week, so congrats to Tom Casey on playing his 100th match for the club last week! Having to deal with many recurrent injuries throughout his time at TEM it hasn’t always been easy for young Thomas, but he broke through for his first goal of the year in the big milestone. Well done mate!

That’s about it from us, enjoy the day tomorrow it promises to be an absolute b-e-a-uty! See you there! #gotem

PS – We now have Instagram! Head along to the app and give us a follow @temhockey.

Milestones: Tom Casey (MVL1) – 100 games +1

Performance of the week: You may expect that with two 11-0 drubbings that either MVL1/MVL1R would get the honours this week, but the performance of the week in fact goes to a match that ended in a 0-0 draw. Women’s Metro battled against the odds all day to take it right up to ladder leaders Hawthorn, to almost avenge their 1-8 loss from earlier in the year. A really courageous effort!

Round 18 Senior Fixtures:

MEN

MVL1 (2nd) vs Mornington Peninsula (11th) | Sat 22nd August | 2:00pm @ H1

After winning comprehensively against Old Xavs last week 11-0, the MVL1 boys are on a high heading into finals. However, Mornington lurks as a danger game for a number of reasons. The team can ill afford to take their foot off the pedal leading into finals, and are pushing for a full 70 minute performance against a team playing it’s last MVL1 match for the next few years.  Last time they met it was a great 5-1 win to our boys, let’s hope they can finish the regular season off in a similar fashion!

MVL1R (2nd) vs Mornington Peninsula (8th) | Sat 22nd August | 12:30pm @ H1

MPA (9th) vs Footscray (8th) | Sat 22nd August | 2:00pm @ F1

WPL (10th) vs Mentone (7th) | Sat 22nd August | 3:30pm @ H1

In their last match of the year, the WPL girls will be looking to leave it all on the pitch in front of their home crowd. It also signifies the last match for a number of our international stars helping the club out this year, so they would love nothing more than to finish off on a high. Last week, the ladies pushed Doncaster all the way in a tough 0-2 loss, and will be looking to take it right up to Mentone and avenge their loss from earlier in the year. Expect a cracking match!

WPLR (10th) vs Mentone (7th) | Sat 22nd August | 5:00pm @ H1
