TEM Finals Review

Mens Metro Blue and Red – The hype before this all-important TEM Metro clash was huge, with only one team able to progress into the grand final the following week. Due to the enormous interest in this match there was a huge TEM crowd out in force supporting all the players. The game started with a few short corners, however neither side could convert.

Blue opened the scoring through a fantastic Brendan “Bangers” Wilson goal, but their lead was short-lived with Red scoring through Tim Stewart. The remainder of the game played out very evenly, with both sides earning plenty of opportunities to score, and the final score 1-1 at full time.

The game was set to be decided by a penalty shootout! Again this was a very even contest, with both sides putting away 4 goals, and running into sudden death. Blue eventually came away on top, ready to take on the grand final next weekend!

Mens Masters – The Men’s 45D team took out their grand final on Monday night with a 6-0 demolition of Hawthorn. TEM really had a point to prove after losing their first and only game against this team two weeks earlier. A great way to end a fantastic 2016 season from this team!

U14 Girls Shield -The TEM Under 14 Shield Girls topped off a fantastic season (13 wins and 1 loss) with a win in the grand final against Doncaster. The girls jumped out of the blocks setting the tempo high early to go up 5-1 in the first half of the match. The second half was a much tougher contest with both teams displaying exciting end to end hockey. TEM held off a late run by Doncaster who scored 2 goals in 10 minutes and ran out winners 5-3 to claim the Marg Tomlinson Shield.

The TEM Under 14 Shield Girls would like to thank all the parents, brothers and sisters, family members, extended family members, TEM club members and ROARY the team mascot for coming out to show their support on Friday night. The crowd support was absolutely fantastic. Also a big thank you to Team manager Sarah Morrisby and TEM Coaching Director Victor Romagosa for your support and help throughout the season.
