Masters Monthly Wrap (May)

So with all the posts about seniors, juniors and extra-curricular club members, we thought it was time to give our elder statesmen/women a bit of attention! The Masters teams have been ‘running’ around on the pitch for a while now, so we thought we’d check in with how all the teams are tracking so far this year.

The Masters teams are pumped up for the 2015 Season!

Ladies:

Over 35A’s – The ladies have had a bit of an indifferent start to the year with many outs in the opening few rounds (including solarium trips!), and they face arch-rivals Hawthorn in a big grudge match down at TEM tonight. Let’s see if they can pop some more goals in the net.

Over 35B’s – Are sitting verrryy pretty on top of the table right now with 4 wins out of 4. Look to see them continue piling on the pressure vs one of the never-ending Camberwell masters teams at 9:30pm tonight at TEM.

Men:

Both the 45+ and 50+ teams are still in desperate need of some players as many of the games have been played with 10 men or less, so get your friends out of their wheelchairs and on board the Masters bandwagon!

Luckily both the 45s and 50s have the services of super-goalie Stuart Hamilton whose motto is "no balls in the net or I'll buy six rounds of beer". Unfortunately all the beer each week is affecting their games. And naturally, they are all abiding by the guidelines set by our friends from TAC and being responsible about their exploits.

Over 35B’s – Sitting very nicely after 5 rounds with 4 wins on the board, the most recent being a 6-1 thumping of MCC. Good to see the ‘young guns’ of the masters section providing all the youthful enthusiasm to each match.

Over 35C’s – Fresh off a tight 1-0 win over Hawthorn on Monday, the boys have snuck just inside the top 4. If only the season ended after Round 5! They will be looking to continue their well-drilled play at Elgar Park next Monday night.

Over 45D’s – Are putting in their best from week to week but find themselves near the tail end of the ladder with only 1 draw from 5 matches. Had a tight loss to Hawthorn on Monday 0-1 and will be looking to rebound at the State Hockey Centre next week. We’re told the SHC grandstands will be close to capacity for this match!

Over 50B’s – Are sitting mid-table after 4 rounds, with a daunting trip up the highway to for an 8:30pm match in Geelong tonight! The men are hoping for a match that’s not too physical, as they need to avoid cramping for the long trip home!

Best of luck to all Masters teams as the season continues. Both sections are always looking for more numbers, so get in touch with either Lue Hansen (womens.masters@tem.org.au) or Alan Leary (mens.masters@tem.org.au) to jump on board for the remainder of the year.
